Product description
Copper (II) sulfate (T) is a substance suitable for experiments, education, research, development, and recreational use. Like many other salts, copper (II) sulfate (T) lends itself well to precipitation experiments. Because copper sulfate is white in its anhydrous form, it is a commonly used reagent for detecting water; it turns from white back to blue upon absorbing water into its crystal structure. Nails and other iron objects can easily be copper-plated, with or without the use of direct current. While it does not easily form a durable protective coating, it is excellent for experimental purposes. Making an ink using copper sulfate and tannic acid is less common than using iron salts and tannic acid, but it works perfectly well; the resulting ink is reddish-brown. Copper sulfate can be used to detect sugars as a component of Biuret reagent and Fehling's reagent. Beyond these, there are many other possibilities: use in electric cells, colour-change experiments, chemical gardens, the formation of complex salts, and so on. We supply copper (II) sulfate (T) as a blue (i.e., hydrated, pentahydrate) crystalline powder. It may form clumps.
