It has a citrus scent reminiscent of warm-smelling citrus like orange and mandarin. The scent is not particularly strong; undiluted use is common. Its typical use is as a filler and solvent in citrus accords. You usually use between 0.1% and 10% of this substance in a fragrance composition. It combines well with other citrus scents, spicy notes, and coniferous scents. In perfumes, it is primarily a top note; it is not a stable substance and is best avoided in soap. Limonene D- (nat) was widely used because it is inexpensive and has a light but pleasant scent. Nowadays, it is very rarely used ‘on its own’ in fragrance compositions, essentially only as an ingredient in essential oils. The reason for this is that it reacts very easily with oxygen from the air, which makes the scent less pleasant, can cause clumps in the product, and can trigger an allergic skin reaction. For this reason, we advise against its use in fragrance compositions; we sell this product primarily at the request of customers who hold a different opinion. In addition to use in perfumes, it can be used as a technical solvent; for example, it is excellently suited as a sticker remover and for removing residues of sealant, glue, and the like. Limonene D- (natural) is a colourless to yellow-orange liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 93%, and the shelf life is quite short, rarely longer than a year. It occurs in nature; many types of essential oil consist largely of it. The product we sell is an isolate obtained from the essential oil of oranges. That is why we have added the term (nat) to the name, to indicate that we consider the substance to be natural.
