Product description
Ambrettolide (IFF) is a fragrance material for use in perfumes, cosmetics, and other scented products. It has a creamy musk scent. The scent is of medium strength; therefore, Ambrettolide can be used undiluted. It combines well with fruit and floral scents, as well as with ambers. Additionally, it contributes significantly to the overall presence of the fragrance composition: the scent carries further and appears stronger. In perfumes, it is primarily a base note. Fairly to very stable in almost all applications, including, for example, soap. Stable in candles, but a large amount is needed for a good effect. At room temperature, Ambrettolide (IFF) is a colourless to light yellow liquid. The purity is at least 98%, and the substance has a relatively long shelf life. The substance does not occur in this form in nature, although it strongly resembles a natural variant. The manufacturer is IFF. Ambrettolide has many fans. It is not only an excellent fixative with a strong presence and a very pleasant musk scent, but also one of the most environmentally friendly musk fragrances. A special property is that it can mask the smell of alcohol, even in extremely low doses. For this reason, many perfumers almost always add a minimal amount of this substance to their alcoholic perfumes. Unlike almost all other types of musk, it breaks down quickly and is also non-irritating, non-toxic, and non-allergenic. An important raw material is shellac, the wax of several insect species. This makes it one of the very rare fragrances that is not vegan.
