DPGME serves as a solvent and carrier for fragrances and can be used in products such as room fragrances, specifically reed diffusers. It can be blended with fragrance oils and used as the liquid component in a reed diffuser. The grade we supply is not intended for use in cosmetics; therefore, we do not recommend using it in cosmetic products. DPGME stands for dipropylene glycol methyl ether (also known as PPG-2 Methyl Ether). It has a distinct, rather sweet odour of its own, which can influence the overall scent profile; it is advisable to take this into account. When formulating reed diffuser liquids, the standard practice is to use approximately 25-50% fragrance, with this carrier fluid making up the remainder.
